Senior Manager Accounting (Real Estate/Private Equity)

To be responsible for all aspects of the financial reporting of a group of real estate and private equity funds. The role will include liaising closely with the managers and accountants within the team in order to ensure timely production of high quality materials and responses to client queries.

The employee will be ultimately responsible for all financial and investor reporting and also support and assist with continued development of the teams internal controls and policies and procedures. The role will also include liaison with the client administration team.

The real estate and private equity department is growing and therefore the role will require an individual who is able to respond dynamically to changing requirements and to manage various requirements concurrently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Being the principle contact with the Client and the Directors of the relevant boards in relation to all accounting aspects
  • Reviewing of client financial and investor reporting, including consolidations;
  • Reviewing of bookkeeping and supporting calculations (e.g. loan interest, accruals etc.) (when required)
  • Overseeing the audit process and liaising with external independent auditors in connection with the financial reporting process and sign-off, including assisting with the resolution of complex accounting matters and audit queries;
  • Liaising with lawyers, other administrators and regulatory authorities in relation to the accounting aspects of ad hoc transactions;
  • Supervising, training and development of individuals reporting into you and assisting with the same for members of the administration team (where applicable);
  • Responsible for the migration/onboarding of accounting platforms for a selective group of clients and from other service providers;
  • Overseeing the reconciliation processes across subsidiaries in various jurisdictions, including underlying investment Waterfalls;
  • Oversight and review of certain tax reporting (and liaison with tax advisers as applicable), including but limited to the Fund Reporting Regime, Economic Substance, UK tax returns and K-1s;
  • Reviewing of drawdowns, distribution and equalisation processes;
  • Calculation/review of management fees and carried interest;
  • Assessing and monitoring risks as well as production of controls in order to mitigate risks identified;
  • Where relevant, attending and presenting at regular client board meetings; and
  • Reviewing and authorisation of payments and assisting the administration team with other general administrative matters when workloads within in the administration team are at high capacity;
  • Any other reasonable duties that may be assigned

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • ACA/CA/ACCA qualification or equivalent.
  • Real estate or private equity accounting exposure.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word and Excel (intermediate level)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, strategic thinking and leadership experience with an emphasis on relationship management.
  • The ability to communicate at all levels.
  • To have an attitude that inspires respect and to be capable of taking the lead
  • A high level of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality is essential due to the nature of the work
  • Ability to be proactive with very close attention to detail to ensure work is of a consistently high standard
