We are looking for a Vehicle and Systems Engineer to maintain, modify and repair a wide variety of vehicles, plant and systems including frontline emergency fire vehicles.
Key responsibilities of the role;
Servicing, modifying, maintenance and repairs to vehicles and plant to meet operational requirements in accordance with manufacturers' instructions.
Carry out electrical diagnosis and repair on vehicle plant, and systems using electronic diagnostic equipment and software.
Ensuring the detailed completion of records of maintenance, modifications and repairs on a computerised Fleet Management System (EAM). Report and record all work accurately so that the Asset Management System is kept up to date.
Attend operational incidents with ARFFS to provide technical support for onsite repair and heavy vehicle and aircraft recovery.
Help to co-ordinate an external 3rd party to carry out maintenance, modifications and repairs to static generators including on site & off site stand by generators for sub-stations and radar facilities.
Help to co-ordinate an external 3rd party to carry out vehicle bodywork repairs and refinishing in accordance with manufacturers anti-corrosion warranties.
Help to co-ordinate an external 3rd party to carry out vehicle mechanical maintenance should it be deemed necessary by the Working Chargehand, Team Leader or Managers.
Maintenance, modifications and repairs to hydraulic, pneumatic and Electro-pneumatic systems on a variety of vehicles and plant but especially on Fire Tenders where they are linked and controlled by Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's). A sound technical understanding of these systems and their integration into computerised systems on these vehicles would be an advantage.
Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers when sourcing parts and technical information.
Carry out other duties as deemed appropriate by the Working Chargehand, Team Leaders and Managers will on occasions include - snow clearance, environmental protection, aircraft recovery, coach driving etc.
