Ever felt bored of your standard night out and wondered how people in other countries are spending their evenings? Well thanks to Yelp we need wonder no more.
The local business reviewing website has revealed the top searches at specific times of the night for six different European nations. Some of the late night searches might surprise you…
Here are some of the best insights from that weird array of online searches.
1. While everybody else is searching for restaurants or bars around 6pm, the Italians are searching for massages, shoes, and employment agencies.
2. For your average German, a night of Yelp surfing is strongly oriented to food and drink. Having earlier looked up restaurants and bars, they’re already searching for breakfast and brunch by 9pm.
3. The British are the only nation to prioritise karaoke bars on Yelp (roughly around 9pm).
4. The French and Germans only stick it out on Yelp until about 10pm. In the case of the French, we reckon this has something to do with them searching for nightlife and “dance” around that time.
5. An Irish night on Yelp is like a tour of world cuisine: hotdogs at 6pm, Chinese and pizza at 7pm, pubs between 8pm and 9pm, then Irish breakfast by 11pm.
6. Brits have a very practical approach to keeping themselves going late into the night. They’re hitting up the 24-hour pharmacies by 10pm, then there’s a steady interest in 24-hour food stores and delivery until 1am.
7. Some late night searches are a little odd. The Germans, for example, are after hair stylists at 10pm. But nothing beats the bizarre Spanish interest in swimming lessons around midnight.
