Amazon has announced its latest tablet – the Fire HD 8 again.
The new version of the model boasts greater performance but at a lower cost of only £89.99. In comparison, the HD 10 starts at £169.99 and Apple’s iPad Mini starts at £379. Despite decreasing the price, the tablet has 50% more RAM and twice the storage space than the previous model as well as an 8-inch display with more than a million pixels, stereo speakers and rear and front facing cameras.
The Fire HD 8 will be able to store a lot too, as it comes with either 16GB or 32GB of memory, but with the capability for up to 200GB more through the use of a microSD card. Meanwhile, Amazon say battery life is said to be up to 12 hours “for a full day of power”.
Jorrit Van der Meulen, vice-president of Amazon Devices EU, said of the new model: “We believe in a different approach to tablets — providing premium products at non-premium prices — and customers love it. In fact, we’ve seen our Fire tablet sales more than double year-over-year as a result.”
The Fire HD 8 is currently only available for pre-order, with shipping on September 21.
