In this age of streaming services, one of the biggest movie and TV companies in the world has decided it doesn’t want to miss out, and so DisneyLife has been created.
It’s as good as it sounds: a complete, on-demand back-catalogue of Disney’s movies and box sets of some of its biggest TV shows. You can try it free for 30 days, and then costs £9.99 a month.
For that you’re getting access to a huge archive of classic movies, from the big name features such as Aladdin and The Lion King to all the Pixar classics including Finding Nemo and Toy Story (all three), as well as the live action franchises like Pirates of the Caribbean.
This is all available across desktop and mobile – though you’ll need the free companion app on mobile to take advantage of all the DisneyLife content, which stretches to songs and soundtracks as well as albums from related artists. So, that’s the likes of Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato from their Disney days.
In total, there’s more than 5,000 music tracks and over 2,000 episodes of Disney Channel TV shows to go with the Hollywood classics. Not forgetting the host of books the mobile app also has on offer.
The launch comes just days after YouTube announced a kids dedicated channel in the UK called YouTube Kid, which is free but does come with ads. Disney also confirmed it would be available via Apple TV.
As well as streaming, users are able to temporarily download content for offline viewing, and up to six family members can create profiles within the service too – with parents then able to set controls on viewing times and duration.
