The FBI has agreed to help an Arkansas prosecutor unlock an iPhone and iPod belonging to two teenagers accused of killing a couple.
Hunter Drexler, 18, is accused in the shooting deaths of Robert and Patricia Cogdell, while Justin Staton, 15, has also been charged.
The Cogdell couple had raised Staton as their grandson in Conway, Arkansas.
The trial of Drexler was postponed on Tuesday so prosecutors could ask the FBI for help accessing an iPod and iPhone for evidence.
Now, Faulkner County Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland said the FBI had agreed to the request from his office.
Earlier in the week, the FBI announced that it had gained access to an iPhone belonging to Syed Farook who, along with his wife Tashfeen Malik, killed 14 people in a mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, on December 2.
However, the intelligence service hasn’t revealed how they broke into the phone.
