Today is a very good day for internet news hounds – Reddit has finally introduced an official app for iOS and Android.
The online news community site has until now made do with Alien Blue, a third party app that did so well Reddit actually acquired it in 2014. Reports suggest that Reddit’s original plan was to revamp this app, but the site has now ended up stripping it back and starting again to create a fully fledged mobile version of the service.
The app looks familiar to anyone who uses the site regularly, with a news feed at the centre, and all the various sub-reddits accessible via the top left of the screen.
Images appear as cards too, so while they load into the feed, give them a tap and you can open them in a new window for closer examination, before discarding them with a swipe.
The app is free to download on both iOS and Android.
