Google has joined thousands of others in paying tribute to Jo Cox with a message on its homepage on the day the Labour MP would have turned 42.
Underneath the search bar, an understated link reads “In remembrance of Jo Cox MP”.
On clicking the link, users will find a tribute message from Google about Cox, with a link to the donation page for her memorial fund.
The short message reads: “Today, on what would have been her birthday, we’d like to honour and remember Jo Cox MP, who dedicated her life to the belief that there is more that unites us than divides us.”
“Help honour Jo by making a donation to her memorial fund: https://www.gofundme.com/jocox”
The message also used #moreincommon, which is being used to share memories and supportive messages from across the globe.
Google’s tribute joins thousands of others from around the world on a day of memorial events organised in Trafalgar Square, Beirut, Brussels, Melbourne, Nairobi, New York and Washington DC, as well as at Glastonbury.
