We’ve been waiting patiently for a couple of years now to get our hands on PlayStation VR, but pre-orders are finally live.
When it was announced at Game Developers Conference 2014, then called Project Morpheus, there was a lot of excitement about this virtual reality headset that wouldn’t need a high-end gaming PC to operate, unlike many of its rivals. Here’s where and when you can get one:
You can pre-order the VR headset now from Amazon for £349.99, but the camera needed for it to work is sold separately. From Game, you can get a package deal that includes the camera for £389.98. GameSeek seems like the best option though – for the camera and headset you’ll be paying £380, with free delivery.
October of this year, so in roughly seven months.

Yeah, we know, we know. It seems a long time, especially when Sony’s rival headsets Oculus Rift and HTC Vive will be out very soon. So is it worth the wait? Well, if you don’t have a powerful gaming PC then yes, definitely. PSVR is also a lot cheaper than the Vive or the Rift. And, given that these will be the first round of popular VR headsets, there are bound to be some problems. Maybe Sony is just being smart.
Over 200 developers have been signed up to work on VR content for Sony, ranging from big players in the world of gaming like EA to more indie operations – and there’s already an impressive list of titles scheduled to come out this year. Just a few of those include classics like Tekken 7, Grant Turismo Sport and Final Fantasy XIV.
There’s actually way too many to list here, although IGN can help with that, and there are more being announced all the time. If you invest in a PlayStation VR headset you won’t run out of games to experience in the new format.
Did we mention that Sony was able to confirm an exclusive virtual reality version of Star Wars Battlefront is coming to the device?
We’ll say no more.
