A host of Apple services, including iTunes, the App Store and Apple Music, have gone down for some users.
The official System Status page on the Apple website confirmed that Apple Music – including the Beats 1 radio station that has the tagline “Worldwide. Always on.” – was experiencing issues alongside several other company services.
In a note on the page, Apple said: “Users are experiencing a problem with the services listed above. We are investigating and will update the status as more information becomes available.”
The timing was particularly unfortunate given that the reported but as yet unspecified issues surfaced for some during the announcement of the nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Beats 1 – which the station was doing exclusively.
It seems unlikely the outage was caused by a rush of users heading to Beats 1 to hear the nominations, with the last Apple service issue being the result of a much more mundane internal server problem.
But we’ll have to wait for Apple’s diagnosis.
