It’s been a year since the launch of Minecraft Windows 10 Edition Beta.
During that time, game developer Mojang counted more than 12,000 code check-ins, 6,000-plus bug fixes and 15 updates with dozens of new features.
And now it appears Microsoft has further plans for Minecraft – it has just announced that Oculus Rift support will be added to the Windows 10 Edition of of the game in the next few weeks.
“If you already own Windows 10 Edition and an Oculus Rift, you can jump right in and start experiencing Minecraft in a whole new way,” Jesse Merriam, executive producer for Minecraft, wrote in a blog post.
A virtual reality version is already available to Samsung Gear VR and with Rift, gamers will be able to enjoy Minecraft’s block-like virtual worlds in another VR platform.
Mojang also enlisted the team at Blockworks – a global community of Minecraft artists and builders – to build a roller-coaster world for all fans to download.
“The supercool crafters over at Blockworks have made the amazing roller coaster map,” Marsh Davies of Mojang wrote in another blog post on the Minecraft update.
Meanwhile, Davies says “there’s so much more planned” for Minecraft and adds: “Our work is not done: soon we’ll be introducing add-ons which let you dramatically modify the rules of the game.”
