It looks like you might have to start watching adverts between videos of your best pals using the dog filter and Kourtney Kardashian’s daily workout snaps (don’t pretend you don’t watch them. We all do). According to Digiday, the app is set to monetise aspects of its service and is set to roll out ads from a number of companies in the not too distance future.

Digiday reported that Snapchat is due to include adverts from Hollister, P&G (US consumer goods company), Verizon (US phone network), and Warner Brothers. As you might have clocked on, some of those companies are US-specific so it looks like Snapchat COULD be trialling this in the States first. Or alternatively, we’ll get a different set of debut sponsors.
With 10 billion video views a day, it’s no surprise that companies are queuing up to get in on the Snapchat action. Ads will reportedly be skippable after a user has watched a number of stories in a row and will only appear after a story. Ads will not interrupt a story you are in the middle of watching.
