Amazon have announced a software update is coming to their Kindle e-reader range later this month, revolving around a new personalised home screen.
According to the technology giant’s announcement, the update will provide new ways to find new books easily, and will be automatically pushed to Kindle Paperwhite (2013 and 2015), Kindle (2014) and Kindle Voyage (2014) devices.
At the core of the new features is a reworked home screen, which will now display your most recent books in the upper left side of the screen, so you can jump back into them quickly.
A new section called My Reading Lists has also been added. This shows the items on your Amazon Wish List and any preview samples that you’ve downloaded. If you also happen to be a Goodreads member, items for that app’s Want to Read section will be included too.
Downloads are being better organised too, with users able to view the books they’ve downloaded to their device separately to all e-books in your entire collection – including those saved in the cloud.
As you can see, recommended reads are also now well placed on the home screen to suggest new titles to users. A smarter sharing feature has been added too, so users have the ability to quickly post books or even quotes from the text to social media – and give those who see it the chance to instantly preview the book themselves.
No word yet on the exact date the rollout will begin, but Kindle owners need not worry too much; the whole thing is over-the-air and automatic, so it’ll all be done for you.
