Skiing is a sport that’s dangerous enough without drones falling out of the sky and nearly hitting you.
But that’s what happened to slalom champion Marcel Hirscher as he competed in a World Cup event in Madonna di Campiglio in Italy.
The drone was holding a camera filming the event, which was won by Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen, with Hirscher second.
The 26-year-old was quoted by the BBC as saying: “This is horrible. This can never happen again. This can be a serious injury.”
But he had enough of a sense of humour about it to post a picture of the incident to Instagram with the caption: “Heavy air traffic in Italy #crazy #drone #crash #luckyme”
