The latest Windows 10 update appears to reinstall unwanted Microsoft apps – even if you deleted the software previously.
The Windows 10 Anniversary Update has many new features such as desktop pins, a new “dark” theme and Windows Ink – a nifty annotation tool. However many users are now complaining previous software which they had deliberately removed from their PC has now made a comeback in the new update against their wishes and tastes.
The news comes as the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) published a critical report on the aggressive tactics Microsoft has used to encourage Windows users to update.
EFF’s Amul Kalia told the Daily Express: “The tactics Microsoft employed to get users of earlier versions of Windows to upgrade to Windows 10 went from annoying to downright malicious.”
“What users actually wanted didn’t seem to matter. In an extreme case, members of a wildlife conservation group in the African jungle felt that the automatic download of Windows 10 on a limited bandwidth connection could have endangered their lives if a forced upgrade had begun during a mission.”
It is not currently clear if the collateral applications being added with the latest update have been intentionally reinstated by Microsoft or whether they are simply part of a glitch. However, users will now have to perform another exodus on the unwanted apps on their computer – which is all a bit annoying really.
