Facebook has been at it again – updating the look of profiles to keep user home pages looking fresh.
Their latest move is the introduction of video profile pictures.
As the video shows, users can now have a short, Vine-like clip as their profile picture that plays on a loop. Facebook says this idea was sparked into life when more than 26 million people used the Celebrate Pride rainbow filter earlier this year, deciding to add more expression to profile images.
Some of us weren’t that imaginative though.
Another tweak to profile pictures is that users can set them temporarily – adding a time limit of between an hour and a week, or even set a custom time. It means you can now set a special profile image just for your holiday, or to celebrate Throwback Thursday.
Users can also choose five featured photos to appear at the top of their profile, and that all users can see. The bio has also made a comeback, giving users 101 characters to write something about themselves. Remember when we all used to fill them with song lyrics and quotes?
All this is rolling out to “select iPhone users” in the UK and California for now, but Facebook says it plans to extend this soon.
