Custom Bike Steve:
The motorcycle came to us as a 1984 BMW, K 100. Somebody had already done their thing on it as a Cafe Racer, but we wanted to change it completely.
One of the first changes was the C&C machine aluminium shock linkage, which has enabled me to get rid of the entire original back-end of the motorcycle and create my own seat subframe. By putting this shock linkage on it, its freed up space to give the bike a retro/modern look.
The subframe and tail piece is made from a brand new BMW, R NineT, which Ive trimmed up to make it fit. I think it blends in and looks nice with the tank. Ive made my seat pan but Im still waiting on the seat to be covered.
Ive moved the brain of the electronics from the back of the seat to here, sitting beneath the air intake, which looks quite funky.
The tank is original. We custom hand-painted it a funky and very lairy 1970s heavy metal flake paint. Ive taken away the plastic beneath the tank and shined up the intake system, custom-made out of stainless steel.
The speedo is a Koso Digital Speedo, which gives you all your fairy lights, indicators, neutrals, high beam, oil, charging. On this one again Ive used the original electrical controls on the bars, callipers and breaks to celebrate its originality.
The wheels: the back is original, only weve gone with a wider rear tyre. The whole front end, from steering, to forks, to front wheel, to disks, is off a Suzuki Hayabuser 1300cc, which is going to give you better breaking. It has 6 callipers opposed to the 1. Its got better stopping power.
The fairing is a replica of the BMW, 1978 RS 100. Ive had to make all my own brackets for it to hang off, and Ive trimmed it up to make it a little more sporty, if you like. Ive created an off-set head- and dip-light.
The exhaust is original, but Ive made my own collector into a sportier, modern silencer and a nice pair of C&C rear set foot pegs.
With its adjusted seating position, the whole ride will be racier
