A popular ferry that plied the waters between Jersey and St. Malo for almost a decade, delivering thousands of islanders on their French holiday, has been towed away to be scrapped in Argentina.
The 45-year-old former Emeraude Lines ferry Solidor II served the island between 1989 and 1998 and gained a reputation for being reliable and seaworthy.
Built in the Netherlands, the 70m-ship, which could carry 600 passengers and 82 cars, operated between Buenos Aires and Colonia in Argentina once it left local waters.
It has been in a state of disrepair since 2001 in the Argentinian capital and is now being broken up.

French-owned Emeraude Lines sailed between the Channel Islands and St Malo between 1977 and 2006.
For most of that time, it was the sole operator carrying vehicles but that changed in 2003 when Condor introduced a car-carrying fast ferry and were granted a licence by the States to sail between Jersey and the Breton port.
Shortly before Emeraude Lines collapsed, the States of Jersey impounded its last ferry, Solidor 5, in 2006 over unpaid Harbour dues.
