WATCH: Were lights in the sky a sign aliens are 'breaking free'?

Jersey Air Traffic Control has confirmed the source of mystery lights seen 'soaring' and 'flying' over the airport this week, quelling rumours that UFOs had visited...

Bewildered islanders took to social media to share images of the bright lights, with some alleging that aliens had been seen 'Breaking Free' from their own planet to pay a visit to Earth.

There were fears that these extraterrestrial invaders would not 'Stick to the Status Quo', and instead attempt to 'Bop to the Top' of our planet's hierarchy.

"The most important thing to remember in the face of an alien invasion is that 'We're All in This Together'," said one St. Brelade parishioner.

"Get'cha head in the game!" added another, who appeared to be attempting to use a basketball as a defensive weapon.

Thankfully, it seems that this is not the 'Start of Something New' for human civilisation, as Jersey Air Traffic Control Centre took to Facebook to explain that the lights are part of Les Quennevais School's production of High School Musical.

The school also expressed their thanks to Air Traffic Control for enabling them "to put on a spectacular show outside as well as inside".

The young cast of High School Musical will be taking to the stage this week to perform a sold out four-night run to almost 2,000 audience members.
