States looking for a big idea for this pool

Thursday 23 April 2015

With summer just around the corner, a great opportunity has just come up for someone with a bright idea.

The States are doing up the inside of the building at the Havre des Pas swimming pool, and they’re looking for a new tenant to take it on and do something creative with the space.

District Deputy Scott Wickenden says that the right idea could be anything from a yoga studio to a gallery, but he says that they need to get someone in there before the summer really starts.

He said: “This is a fantastic opportunity.

“All of the Deputies and the Constable are on board – we think that this is an important project,

“This should be a wonderful thing for people to have the chance to use a great space to improve the area as a whole.

“Someone out there has the perfect creative idea for this – we’re looking for someone to come forward with a great idea and a Business Plan so that they can take over the site and get going.”

The States are looking for a new tenant to start as early as the beginning of next month, running through to the end of the year.

St Brelade Constable Steve Pallett, the Assistant Minister in charge of sport, said that they were keen to find a tenant, but they needed to see a Business Plan that would back up proposals for the site.

“It has to make financial sense,” he said. “It costs us money to maintain the building, so we can’t just give it away. If people have got some good ideas, then let’s listen to them.”
