Making a chicken out of milk cartons with a local street artist and enjoying a 'mini-festival' to celebrate the coming of spring are just two ways islanders can get their dose of creative joy this weekend.
Jersey Arts Centre, Jersey Heritage and ArtHouse Jersey have all turned to technology to offer virtual performances, videos and photographs to keep islanders entertained throughout lockdown while their normal programme has been suspended amid the pandemic.

Welcome in the season of renewal from the comfort of your home by joining Jersey Heritage for a virtual version of their much-loved Spring Festival on Saturday 25 April.
The mini-festival will include music, stories, crafts, nature, poetry, recipes and dance via videos shared on Jersey Heritage's social media pages, and on the Heritage at Home hub, between 09:00 and 17:00. All the content will remain on the website for people to enjoy after the festival.
Nicky Lucas, Jersey Heritage’s Events Curator, explained that the local groups, organisations and artists who usually take part in the festival at La Hougue Bie were excited to be a part of the virtual version of La Fête du R'nouvé.

“The support and enthusiasm from so many talented local people has been amazing," she said. "It’s taken a lot of hard work and pushed us all out of our comfort zones by having to think about how we could share everything online, whether that’s been dancing by the Jersey Lillies, nature activities with Stephen Le Quesne, the creation of Jersey Wonders, or entertainment from Royston South and Sita’s Circus.
“Celebrating springtime at La Hougue Bie will have to wait until next year but, in the meantime, we can still prepare a picnic, put down a rug in the lounge and enjoy some of the talent that our lovely Island has to offer. It’s a pretty fantastic line-up and we really hope people join us on Saturday to be part of La Fête du R'nouvé Online.”
To encourage children – and possibly adults – to get crafty, ArtHouse Jersey Presents has called upon a local graphic designer, illustrator and street artist to create the ‘Make it Up with Midnight Series’.
Using items that can be found around the house and would normally be waste or rubbish, the workshops aim to stimulate everyone’s imagination and creativity.
The first episode sees Midnight creating a milk carton chicken in six simple steps.
Oddsocks' fun takes on Shakespeare are a usual staple in the island's cultural calendar.
However, unable to travel to the island, the theatrical group has instead decided to stream its 2014 summer production of Twelfth Night.
