What is happiness? A Jersey spoken word artist has been trying to get to the bottom of it in his new album...while one local artist thinks, for cows at least, the solution comes in the form of shed chandeliers.
Every Friday, Express is presenting a selection of online and offline exhibitions, performances and other historic and creative content to help islanders get their weekly dose of culture throughout the pandemic.
Here's this week's offering...
Jersey-born but UK based teacher and hip hop and spoken word artist, Christian Foley, has shared a preview of his forthcoming release, 'Happy Hour'.
It's the follow-up to his debut album, Excommunication, which explored a range of personal and social issues, particularly touching on male mental health.
According to Arthouse Jersey, which provided seed funding, the 18-track album will "pursue an understanding of happiness. What makes us happy?" alongside a range of guests.

Meanwhile, "the music itself swings between moods, from melancholy piano chords, to joyous horn arrangements."
It’s not only humans who have been enjoying art this week.
Down at Trinity Manor Farm, colourful chandeliers have been installed in the farm’s new 27,900 sq ft cattle shed.
Designed and sculpted by local artist Nicholas Romeril, the special commission involved building special chandeliers designed with cow patterns.
Nicholas said he thinks that “everyone’s going to be blown away” by the new additions to the shed.
Jersey charity Music in Action has released a video to help raise money for children's outreach programmes.
The initiative has historically been an annual fixture bringing over 1,000 children together to sing and dance on stage.
However, due to covid-19, the event this year has been done virtually over YouTube, with the children learning a medley of World War 2 songs, including ‘The White Cliffs of Dover and ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Jersey’s liberation.

James Mews, Chairman of Music in Action said: “It is such an important time to keep children inspired and singing – not to mention having fun – and we have had such wonderful feedback that the WW2 Medley has done just that.”

A new exhibition inviting the public to immerse themselves in 1945’s Liberation Day has opened at the Jersey Museum and Art Gallery this week.
The exhibition, ‘A Day to Remember – Liberation 75’, is presented as a ten-minute film, which features archive material and new interviews with Occupation veterans and their descendants, to tell the story of Liberation from the perspectives of those who lived through them.

In the museum concourse, there is also a selection of artefacts on loan including German military equipment repurposed for domestic use, drawings done by islanders serving sentences, and a cine camera used by Dr Mortimer Evans to film the only known colour footage of the first British troops to arrive on 9 May 1945.
Exhibition overseer and Jersey Heritage’s Sites Curator, Chris Addy, said of the display: “We wanted to portray the events of Liberation in a fresh and inspiring way, and we believe these family stories are moving and captivating. Circumstances meant we couldn’t open ‘A Day to Remember’ in time for Liberation Day but the exhibition is definitely worth the wait.”
In an online event offered by Jersey Library, storyteller, poet and author Andy Seed will be talking about his book, 'The Silly Book of Side-Splitting Stuff' next Thursday (30 July) at 14:00.
He'll be sharing how he came to write the Blue Peter Book Award-winning title, as well as excerpts about silly people, illy inventions, silly sports, silly words and silly jokes - perfect for the Summer Reading Challenge, Silly Squad!
Also included are some fun interactive challenges from The Silly Book of Weird and Wacky Words: tongue-twisters, riddles and word games, plus a brief Q&A.
The event is suitable for families with children over seven.
