A local bar has had to change its age policy after its staff suffered what was described as a “disrespectful [torrent] of abuse” from some young people.
Ce Soir announced its decision to implement an over-21s policy on social media earlier this week.
Since lockdown eased, the cocktail bar has been offering a successful seated al fresco pizza service alongside Pizza Projekt.
While it said on Facebook that many of its under-21 customers attending since its reopening had been “mature and polite”, it warned that it “cannot continue to supervise playground antics”.
Cuisine.je, which has been providing the table booking service for Ce Soir, explained on Instagram that there had been “recurring incidents” where some individuals had jeopardised “the welfare of staff and other patrons around them.”
The post read: “In these testing times, due to the restrictions and changes necessary to help minimise the covid-19 spread, businesses are going above and beyond to ensure their customers will receive the highest levels of customer service coupled with the strict hygiene protocols imposed…
“The staff at Ce Soir are working to make sure their customers are having a good time and do not deserve the disgraceful, disrespectful torrid [sic] of abuse they have been subjected to of late. The source of these incidents seems to be within the same age sector.”

Anyone who has reserved a table at Ce Soir under the age of 21 will now have to leave by 21:00.
The bar also said it will be increasing its security from this weekend.
