Just under 5,000 thirsty folks attended this year’s Jersey CAMRA Beer Festival, with organiser Dwayne Palmer delighted with the turn-out.
After a slow Thursday and Friday, the numbers picked up on Saturday as beer lovers flocked to the People’s Park.
Mr Palmer, Chairman of Jersey CAMRA, said: “It was slower than normal on Thursday and Friday, probably because of the poor weather, but things really picked up on Saturday and ou final numbers was around 4,900. I think the ending of Pride Week and the Dragonboat Festival on Saturday helped because we got substantial numbers from both those events.
“By the end, we only had 32 out of around 100 beers left which is a bit more than average, but that was on purpose so that people who came along on Saturday weren’t limited in their choices.
“The token system ran very smoothly with very few delays and overall it was a resounding success. The feedback we have had so far has been really good and the beers were terrific. We have had plenty of compliments, which is great to hear.”
Jersey CAMRA will name the date and venue for the winter beer festival shortly.
