Big interest in Jersey students

Thursday 13 March 2014

Jersey students will get the chance to speak face-to-face to representatives from more than 70 universities from the UK and overseas today to find out more about the degree courses they offer and life at University.

The Higher Education Fair returns to Hautlieu School this afternoon for the biggest event to date. As well as the exhibitor stands, there will be 32 presentations ranging from teaching to engineering, and volunteering abroad to portfolio preparation for creative courses.

The event is organised by Careers Jersey who are delighted that universities are continuing to show a strong interest in Jersey students.

Jeremy Field said: “Our aim is to provide a range of information in one place to help students and parents consider the different options around higher education. The event gives individuals a valuable opportunity to speak face-to-face to university representatives.”

The reps will also be visiting Jersey’s secondary schools before and after the Fair to talk to students aged 14 and over. They’ll lead interactive workshops aimed at encouraging them to think about higher education and the options available.

The Higher Education Fair is open from 1.30pm to 6.30pm and is free to anyone interested in higher education.
