Bus drivers bare all

Monday 05 November 2018

Staff at LibertyBus have taken a leaf out of the Calendar Girls' book, by getting off the bus and into the buff, to raise money for charity.

Drivers, customer service staff, engineers and managers dared to bare all for their 2019 calendar ‘LibertyBus Uncovered’, which takes a look behind the scenes of the bus services and captures the staff in all their glory, in aid of sight impairment charity Eyecan.

Kevin Hart, Director of LibertyBus, said that the calendar was the result of a "fantastic team effort."

“Staff from across the business gave up their spare time to come together and make this calendar happen," he added. "We have seen some true hidden talents from our models and we had a lot of fun along the way," he explained.

The calendar was shot by photographer and bus driver Jonathan Lozach, with creative direction from Marketing and Communications Manager, Lisa Walker.

“Jonathan and I had a clear vision of what we wanted to achieve and although we needed a great deal of persuasion to get some of our models on-board, the results are amazing. We wanted to ‘reveal’ the people behind the bus service and we hope the calendar will bring a smile to everyone’s face," Ms Walker said.

LibertyBus staff voted for Eyecan to benefit from the 'eye-candy' calendar's sale. The charity recently launched a scheme that accredits businesses for good practice alongside the introduction of the disability discrimination law, and they hope they will get as many as 20 on board over the next year. It also shared tips on how businesses can make things more accessible at work for those with sight impairments.

Jane Vincent, the charity's Operations Director, said they were incredibly grateful to be involved in the project.

“We’re delighted that the staff at LibertyBus have chosen EYECAN to receive the proceeds of this fantastic, fun initiative. Sales of the calendar will help raise awareness of the support the charity provides to sight impaired islanders and we’re sure it will be a sell out!”

The LibertyBus Uncovered calendars are on sale from the customer service desk at Liberation Station, at Eyecan's Westlea Centre and Onespecs Opticians for a minimum £5 donation from today.
