Flags are to be flown at full mast tomorrow from both public and government buildings to mark the King’s accession to the throne, while cannons are also set to mark a year since the passing of the Queen.
Islanders are able to take part in the commemorations if they wish, by following the instruction for flags to be raised by 08:00 on Friday and remain at full mast until sunset.
As it is also a year since the passing of Her Late Majesty the Queen a cannon will be fired at 15:10, the time at which she passed away, to allow one minute of reflection which will be concluded by a second cannon round.
This will only be observed this year.
The Bailiff, Sir Timothy Le Cocq said: "It is one year since we received the sad news of the passing of Her Late Majesty the Queen and, of course, as a result the accession of His Majesty the King to the throne.
"The people of Jersey, like so many others around the globe, felt real loss and sorrow at Her Late Majesty’s passing, while at the same time celebrating the accession of the King. On the 8th September we can mark the anniversary of both of these historic events, remembering Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and celebrating the start of the reign of His Majesty King Charles III."
