Monday 20 July 2020

Jersey's very own Superman has gone viral after he posted a video of himself building his own gaming pc in a purposefully suggestive way, leaving many commentators swooning.

In the tongue-in-cheek video, Henry Cavill can be seen putting the different parts of the PC together with his muscles on full display and Barry White’s songs playing in the background.

It opens with a shot of the different components in their original packaging.

Cavill is known for being an avid PC gamer, which led him to seek the main part in Netlfix series, ‘The Witcher’.

Based on a Polish book series by Andrzej Sapkowski, which rose to prominence after being made into a game, the series premiered earlier this year with a second season expected for 2021.

The actor explained he had thoroughly enjoyed playing the game, prompting him to seek the role of Geralt of Rivia,

While most professional gamers take their PC build seriously, Cavill decided to add some fun to the mix with ‘My First, My Last, My Everything’ and other romantic hits from Barry White playing in the background, which give the video a deliberately steamy vibe, straight out of a rom-com scene.

Showing he is not afraid of poking fun at himself or to own up his mistakes, the actor didn’t cut out the scenes which show some of the parts got built the wrong way around in the first place.

The funny footage caught the attention of many of Cavill’s followers. Shared on Instagram last Thursday, the video was watched over three million times in just one day.

Many gamers applauded Superman’s work, while IT brands offered some more gear to spruce up the pc.

Others noted on the sex appeal of the video, sliding in the comments to leave “thirsty” messages which involved many puns on screwdrivers.

The video also went viral on Twitter, where several IT brands and specialised outlets sharing it with their followers.

For those who prefer to see Cavill on the big screen, he will be returning to Netflix in September with ‘Enola Holmes’, based on the book series of the same by Nancy Springer which chronicles the adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister.

The Jersey-born actor will play the infamous detective with ‘Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown playing Enola and ‘The Hunger Games’ Sam Claflin starring as Mycroft.
