Chief Minister’s private secretary charged with violent assaults

Wednesday 09 December 2020

The Chief Minister’s private secretary has been charged with maliciously damaging artwork and a number of violent assaults.

Timothy David Nicolle (29) appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 2 December.

He is charged with three counts of grave and criminal assault, and breaking into a property and causing "malicious damage to a value unknown to numerous pieces of artwork."

Mr Nicolle is also accused of brandishing an "offensive weapon" - namely, a kitchen knife - "without lawful authority or reasonable excuse."

All of the charges are alleged to have occurred on 29 November at multiple properties in St. Lawrence.

Mr Nicolle appeared in court in person, where he was represented by Advocate Rebecca Morley-Kirk.

The presiding Magistrate, Bridget Shaw, said the case was too serious to be heard in the Magistrate’s Court.

She subsequently adjourned the case for committal to the Royal Court.

Mr Nicolle has been remanded in custody in the meantime and will next appear in court on 13 January 2021.
