Condor Liberation team praised after medical emergency on board

Wednesday 24 May 2023

A ferry passenger had to be taken to hospital this afternoon following a medical emergency on the Condor Liberation.

The passenger was transferred to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital by emergency services after the vessel arrived in St. Peter Port.

A Condor ferries spokesperson said: "We can confirm a medical emergency on Condor Liberation whilst the vessel was en route to Guernsey from Jersey this afternoon, Wednesday 24 May.

"The passenger was attended to by our team on board, their condition was assessed and medical advice recommended further treatment ashore. Emergency services were called to meet the ship’s arrival in St. Peter Port at 15:25 and the patient was subsequently transferred by ambulance to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

"We commend the team on Liberation for their prompt actions along with passengers, including a doctor, who attended the casualty. Condor crews across its fleet are trained to handle a range of medical emergencies.

"Decisions are always taken in passengers’ best interests and we wish the patient well."

The spokesperson added: "As a consequence, Liberation is currently operating an hour behind schedule."
