The Constable of St. John, who was elected last year after his predecessor was ordered to resign, is standing again next month.
Andy Jehan will be an independent candidate, arguing that a Constable should represent his parish before any party.
The former Jersey Post employee and past-chair of Jersey Business was elected unopposed last April following the resignation of Chris Taylor last March following a conviction for dangerous driving in August 2020.
Mr Jehan said: “I have learned a lot in the past 13 months and feel well equipped to offer stable leadership to the parish, as well as a make a considered contribution to important States debates.”
He said that his achievements in the past year included rezoning land for affordable housing and ‘right-sized’properties, as well as getting land near the parish hall identified for community use, all during the recent Bridging Island Plan debate.
He also set up collaboration on climate change between nine parishes and has filled all the vacant positions in the Honorary Police, to the extend that there is now a waiting list of parishioners wishing to join.
He has also been a strong voice on Health-related matters, including working closely with Senator Steve Pallett to successfully call on the Government to review rehabilitation services.
The election will take place on Wednesday 22 June.
