Assistant Minister Constable seeking re-election

Wednesday 18 May 2022

A former Chef de Police who became Constable of St. Peter four years ago is hoping for a second term.

Richard Vibert is standing for re-election in his parish. He was first elected in 2018 after serving for eight years as Chef de Police. After sitting on Scrutiny, he became an Assistant Minister for Children and Education last year.

He said his manifesto for re-election included the building of affordable family and ‘right-sizing’ homes in St. Peter, creating community allotments, and encouraging the use of renewable fuels.

Mr Vibert supported the rezoning of a number of fields in St. Peter for housing in the recent Bridging Island Plan debate.

He added: “Though needed, the escalating cost of the Our Hospital project is a concern but any proposed changes must not materially impact the timeline for delivery of a suitable new hospital.

“An excellent health service will depend on us retaining, valuing and developing the dedicated professional staff we already have and being able to attract and retain new staff and any issues must be addressed.”

The election takes place on Wednesday 22 June.
