Crash after car swerves on hill

Friday 12 June 2020

A van and car crashed yesterday afternoon after a sudden swerve by another vehicle that had been driving on the wrong side of the road.

Police said the collision happened on Tower Road around 14:50 yesterday (Thursday 11 June).

They now want to speak to the driver of the swerving car – a blue Citroen – and are also urging witnesses to the collision to get in touch.

Pictured: The car driving on the wrong side of the road was described as a "blue Citroen with black bumpers on the side panels".

In an appeal for more information, officers explained the sequence of events: “Two vehicles, a white VW van and a silver Ford Ka were descending Tower Road in wet conditions, when a blue Citroen with black bumpers on the side panels came up the hill on the wrong side of the road, swerving back into the correct lane at the last minute.

“This caused the driver of the VW van to brake sharply which resulted in the Ford Ka colliding into the rear of the van.

“The vehicles were damaged however, thankfully no-one was injured.”

Anyone with more information is asked to contact Police on 612612 or make an anonymous report via Crimestoppers’ online form.
