The bovine world is set to be blended with high culture and fine art as part of a bid to get Sark's new dairy to its half-a-million funding goal.

Sark Dairy has been successfully running for a couple of months, and milk has been available for purchase for six weeks from the vending machine at the dairy where added flavourings can also be sampled.

Both of Sark’s food shops now also stock the local milk as well as several catering establishments.

The dairy has been funded by many generous donations, support from businesses and some very creative fundraising events.

£360,000 has been raised this far, and fundraising will continue for a further £120,000 to reach the £480,000 goal.

To help, Nicholas Merchant, freelance lecturer in decorative and fine arts, has donated five 40-minute lectures on a range of subjects with proceeds going to the Sark Dairy Trust.

On topics from English gardens in the South of France to the jewellery of Rene Lalique, lectures can be enjoyed for £15 each or £65 for all.

More details are yet to be revealed about Nicholas Merchant’s lecturers, however they are guaranteed an “interesting and entertaining way of passing a winter weekend afternoon or two or even five.”

Anyone interested in tuning in to the lectures should email treasurer@sarkdairytrust.com.
