David Bowie art goes under the hammer for Hospice

Saturday 24 September 2016

An abstract painting of rock legend David Bowie is going under the hammer for charity tonight and is likely to fetch more than £20K.

The painting by London based artist Iain Alexander is up for grabs at Jersey Hospice Care's sell-out Ball at Rozel Manor.

Mr Alexander, who has recently finished a painting for the Beckhams for a cool £150K and has recently exhibited alongside Banksy and Takashi Murakami, has flown over for tonight's big bash.

There might be a  four to five year waiting list for the new Rolex Daytona watch modelled on the original owned by Paul Newman, but tonight's auction is a chance for someone to get their hands on one. The white dial model has been donated by Hettich jewellers.

One successful bidder and up to seven friends will be served up a morning's tennis coaching session at Longueville Manor with Judy Murray, mother and mentor to Andy and Jamie.

One of Sotherby's most highly sought after charity auctioneers Lord Harry Dalmeny will be behind the rostrum helping to raise funds for Jersey Hospice Care.
