Dips Swim Therapy club to hold tea party

Sunday 11 February 2018

Jersey Dips Swim Therapy will be holding a tea party at 16:30 on 19 February at Mont à l'Abbé therapy pool.

The tea party will mark the first time the club's patron, the Lieutenant Governor's wife, Lady Dalton, has met its members.

The members will give Lady Dalton a walk around the school and the pool and present their activities.

Opened in 1982, the club, which was formerly known as Jersey Dips Swimming Club, enables members to use the heated therapy pool at Mont à l'Abbé. This benefits not only people who have had operations or suffer from mobility issues but also people who see water therapy as a way of enhancing health.

The club opens the pool on Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:30 to 18:00. It can sometimes be opened later if people need it. A lifeguard is always present on site during the times the pool is open.

Members currently pay a £5 membership per year as well as a 50p fee per swim. Sophie Small, the club's chair, explained: "We want to keep it affordable as some of our members are on a low income. We have members from all walks of life.

"The Club has helped so many people in the community. We are hoping to continue the good work."
