Islanders are being asked to help identify the owner of a mystery suitcase that has been flying “back and forth” between Jersey and Manchester.

Jersey Post said that two addresses were on the black zip-up bag’s label – one local address and one in Manchester – but said both have been contacted and they’ve had “no luck finding the owner”.

The team has also investigated the contents of the suitcase, but said there were no clues about the owner inside.

As a result, they’re turning to the “powers of social media” to help get the suitcase back to its  rightful owner.

A post to Facebook yesterday afternoon has since been shared more than 200 times – and also generated some jokes.

One islander suggested: “Plot twist: the owner is INSIDE the suitcase.”

Anyone who recognises the case or thinks it might be theirs should call Jersey Post’s Customer Care team on 616616 with information on its contents.
