They might have been tipped as one of the hottest presents but hover boards are not taking off at the Airport this Christmas.
They've banned riders from flying into or off the Island with them following fears the self-balancing scooters might explode.
Ports of Jersey's Group Marketing & Communications Manager Alan Donald said: "Media stories in recent days have said that the majority of airlines are now banning ‘hoverboards’ or similar devices in light of recent reports about potential fire risks associated with the lithium batteries used. This ban extends to carriers BA, EasyJet and Flybe who operate services from Jersey together with a number of onward connecting airlines, including Emirates, Virgin, Qatar, Delta, United, JetBlue, American Airlines, Southwest, Air Canada and Lufthansa.
"Following discussion with our security providers and in light of the potential risks Ports of Jersey has taken the decision to forbid the carriage of any such hoverboards through Jersey Airport for the safety and security of passengers and staff. Passengers are advised not to travel with hoverboards as any found in hand or hold luggage will be confiscated."
Jersey Trading Standards have already sent one off for testing after thousands were confiscated in the UK because of the risk of them exploding or catching fire.
Jersey Airport are expecting a very busy couple of weeks as Islanders head off to celebrate Christmas off-Island and are opening check-in desks hours earlier to help deal with the queues.
EasyJet bag drops are open two and half hours before take-off and close 40 minutes before. The airline's departure gates will close half an hour before the flight goes.
Flybe bag drops are also open two and a half hours before take-off, closing 30 minutes before. Their gates will close ten minutes before the flight goes.
Blue Islands check in desks are open two hours before take-off, closing 30 minutes before. Their gates will also close ten minutes before the flight goes.
Mr Donald said if you've got a flight to catch you should allow plenty of time to check-in and get to the departure gates.
