The scary clown craze has landed in Jersey and it’s anything but funny, according to the police.
Last night there were reports of someone dressed as a clown at Les Quennevais, but the person couldn't be traced.
The craze has swept across the UK, with people trying to out-do each other by donning increasingly scary clown costumes and in the run-up to Halloween at the end of this month, police say they are concerned.
Police today issued a statement saying: “We are aware that a social media group has been set up with the intention of scaring others following the national craze and we feel this needs to be addressed.
“We would urge these people to think of the distress you could cause to other people and would like to warn anyone thinking of joining in that they could be committing criminal offences and could be arrested for their behaviour.
“We would ask anyone who is concerned or sees anything untoward to contact officers on 612612.”
