Two lucky escapes "under investigation"

Thursday 19 July 2018

A driver managed to escape from his car unhurt after it slammed into a bank and flipped onto its roof last night – one of two lucky escapes last night now under investigation.

One fire engine and six firefighters were sent to the scene following the collision at Les Varines.

The vehicle had been travelling along the road before hitting a bank and rolling onto its roof at around 22:15.

Despite the dramatic collision, the unnamed driver managed to free himself from the vehicle without sustaining any injuries, but was seen by paramedics and taken to hospital as a “precautionary measure.”

Fire officials closed the road to make the area safe. It was later reopened, after debris had been cleared and the car recovered.

Around just five hours later, firefighters were called to another car crash.

At 3:30am one fire engine and nine firefighters were sent to a car that had run off the road at La Moye by the corner of the school.

The driver had also managed to escape his vehicle unhurt, and the car sustained little damage.

Details of both incidents have been handed to the Police. Fire officials said they are now under investigation.
