Convicted drug dealer Curtis Warren is facing further charges for allegedly breaching an order put in place to prevent him committing serious crimes.
Warren, of Widnes, Cheshire, already had a trial date fixed for August this year.
Appearing at Liverpool Crown Court in January, the 60-year-old was charged with 11 counts of failing to comply with a serious crime prevention order, said to have been committed following his release from prison in November 2022.
He was accused of failing to notify the authorities of a change of communication device, of his use of credit cards, that he had set up a business, the true nature of that business and of his application for a passport.
He was alleged to have breached the order by having more than £1,000 in his possession and failing to declare his income.
Warren was also charged with failing to notify the authorities he had access to multiple vehicles, of his travel arrangements while out of the UK, that he was away from his home address for more than 24 hours and that he changed his home address.
These charges relate to the period between November 2022 and July 2023.
But Warren was told at a Merseyside police station on Thursday 15 February last week that he was being charged with a further seven breaches between the May 2023 and January 2024.
The latest alleged breaches relate to communications devices, banking, vehicles, cash and property.
Warren was jailed for 13 years at Jersey’s Royal Court in 2009 for attempting what would have been the Island’s biggest drugs importation. In 2013, he was sentenced to a further ten years in prison when he refused to pay a £198 million confiscation order.
After being released in 2022, the Liverpool-born gangster was arrested by the National Crime Agency (NCA) in Boldon Colliery, South Tyneside, in July 2023 and charged with the first 11 alleged breaches in November.
Warren entered no pleas during a hearing in January which lasted around 10 minutes.
Judge David Aubrey KC fixed a trial date for August 12 – the case is estimated to last two weeks.
Following the January hearing, Warren was released on bail ahead of a further hearing on 3 June. He remains on bail and is due to appear before court in relation to the new charges.
