A group of 12 ducklings have been saved from being washed out to sea following a dramatic rescue that saw an animal shelter staff member forced to climb into a drain.
The dozen ducklings, who were separated from their mother at only a few days old, were found trapped in a drain on Mont de Landes near Archirondel on Easter Monday.
A JSPCA ambulance driver and two members of staff attended the scene after receiving a call from a member of the public.

The group were forced to act fast, as the strong current could have seen the group washed out to sea.
The drain had to be taken apart, as it was connected to a stream, before staff could climb into it to rescue the ducklings with a net.
On arrival at the JSPCA, they were checked by a vet and found to be only a few days old. Unfortunately, one of the ducklings passed away.
Shortly after the group's arrival, staff at the shelter received a lone duckling, who has now been added to the group, and all are said to be doing well.

They have been put in a warm enclosure with food and seem to have settled in well at the shelter.
A spokesperson for the JSPCA said the ducklings will stay in their care until they are old enough to be released.
They explained: "They will be in our care for a number of weeks, so that we can monitor them and wait for their water proof feathers to appear.
"They will then be introduced to our pond area where they can learn to preen, and duck and dive."

The ducklings will then be released in a safe area so that they have the best chance at survival.
This is not the first time the JSPCA has looked after ducklings. In 2017, Maxi and Wiggerly were rescued by a group of four children, who were rock climbing around Beauport and reached international fame when their story was picked up by an American website and gathered over 4,500 likes.
