Watch #Jsy2018: Battle of old vs new in St. Mary

Monday 07 May 2018

The voters of St. Mary are unique in being the only parishioners who are going to the polls to elect both a constable and a deputy.

Sitting constable Juliette Gallichan is being challenged for the post by former parish deputy John Le Bailly.

There’s also a two-way fight for the one deputy’s post.

Sitting deputy David Johnson is squaring off against newcomer Mark Baker.

A hustings is being held for constable on Tuesday 8 May, and for deputy on Thursday 10 May. Both are being held at the parish hall and start at 20:00.

Voting for both deputy and constable will take place at the parish hall on Wednesday 16 May. On the same day, voters in St. Mary – like parishioners across the island – will also have the opportunity to choose up to eight senators from a list of 17 candidates, again at the parish hall.

Bailiwick Express would like to thank the students of Highlands College Media Department who helped film some of these election videos.

Tomorrow: St. Brelade No 2.
