The England Rugby team will be heading to Jersey next month for a training camp, it has been confirmed.

Following in the pawprints of the British and Irish Lions, Coach Eddie Jones and the squad will be using Strive’s facilities from 25 to 29 October to prepare for their November test matches.

Mr Jones said his team was swapping Portugal for Jersey as a result of the pandemic.

“Jersey has a strong rugby community, and the new Strive centre is an outstanding facility with a state-of-the-art training centre, alongside the Jersey Reds’ facilities,” he said.

“We usually go to Portugal but with the challenges presented by covid-19, it has given us the opportunity to try a new facility and we’re looking forward to spending some time there and working hard this autumn.”

Jersey Reds Chair Mark Morgan added: “We are thrilled to welcome yet another high-profile visiting rugby side to our club and our Island. We look forward to ensuring Eddie and his team can host a great camp as the England boys prepare for their autumn campaign.”

England’s November programme will see them host Tonga at Twickenham on 6 November, Australia on 13 November and South Africa on 20 November.
