St. Luke's Church is promising a "fun-packed" programme today from 15:00 with music, games, activities, stalls, a bouncy castle, and a Very Important Paddler - the Boat Show giant inflatable duck.
The church is hosting its first Family Fun Day and is expecting visitors from 15:00 to 18:00.
Father Nick Barry explained that while the Church has previously hosted Liberation-themed parties in the last couple of years, they tried to do something different. "It's something we haven't tried before," he said. "It's just bit of fun. We will have a bouncy castle for children. Royston South (a magician and balloon bender) is coming to entertain the children, he is very good.
"There will be games to play and general opportunities for people to have fun."
The Church will also be serving some food and drinks but can not guarantee everyone will be able to grab something to eat, as bookings closed earlier this week. However, Father Nick said anyone is welcome to join in the fun activities on the day.
With everything all set up and ready to go for the first visitors to arrive, Father Nick is only hoping for one thing, for the sun to join in too. "We hope it will be decent weather," he said. "It was not terribly promising earlier this week."
