Six jobs are to be lost at internet beauty products giant Feel Unique as they move some of their business out of Jersey, citing concerns about finding finance staff skilled in online retailing.
The finance department staff have turned down a move to Northampton in the UK, where the cosmetics company houses its main distribution centre.
Chief Operations Officer Jim Buckle told Express that the company had also struggled to find appropriately-qualified staff in Jersey, which accounted for part of the decision.
“There are two main reasons for this decision. Firstly, we have found it difficult to recruit finance staff in Jersey with relevant experience of online retail and, secondly, it is beneficial for the team to be co-located with our operations and supply chain teams already based in Northampton,” he commented.
Staff involved, who were offered the opportunity to consider alternative vacancies, will receive compensation for their redundancy.

The news comes following the retailer’s Jersey distribution centre closing in 2015, which placed around 50 jobs at risk.
Mr Buckle nonetheless confirmed that Feel Unique, which was founded in the Island in 2005, “remain committed to Jersey”.
“We continue to recruit here for other roles. In Jersey, we operate two beauty stores, a hair salon, and we also employ several teams connected to our online retail business.
“In total, after these redundancies, we will continue to employ almost 100 people in Jersey.”
