Staff from Omega Financial Services took the day off from the books last Friday – and cooked up a batch of meals for the vulnerable.

The team spent the day at Elim Rock Community Centre at Plat Douet Road, cooking meals to be distributed by the Grace Trust, in conjunction with the Caring Cooks charity.

In all, the team made 240 meals, giving the Grace Trust a stock of Cottage Pie, Sausage Casserole, Chicken Casserole, Chilli con Carne and Tuna Pasta Bake to be frozen and distributed in the coming weeks.

The team only deal with clients in Jersey, and say that they took on the challenge to put something back into the community.

Omega Managing Director Kevin Allenby, who was one of the team of chefs, said that their love of being in the kitchen and the desire to help vulnerable people out meant that the day out of the office was a great thing to do.

He said: “We wanted to give something back to the local community and with everyone in the office having a love of cooking we thought this was an ideal way of helping people in need.”
