Fire service issues warning about barbecues

Monday 24 April 2017

Jersey's Fire Service is warning Islanders to check their barbecues before using them, after one caught fire in St. Clement over the weekend.

In particular, they are using people to check the gas cylinder after being stored over the winter.

A couple had a lucky escape on Sunday after their barbecue caught fire just after midday. Nine firefighters were able to deal with the blaze, before it spread to their house.

Barbecue owners are asked to carry a "vital" check and inspect the gas cylinder as well as all connections to look for any potential leaks.
