Firefighters had to tackle a garage fire in St Brelade last night before it spread to other properties.
They were called just before 23:00; it took 13 firefighters and three fire engines to tackle the blaze which also spread to a garage next door, and at one point they were worried that the roof of a neighbouring property would fall in on the garages.
The Fire Service says that they needed to stay on the site for several hours to make sure that what was left of the garages was safe, and to clear the contents. No one was hurt.
Crew Commander, Craig Channing said: "...the fire had taken hold very quickly and was in danger of threatening the main property of the house. The fire in the secondary garage was particularly difficult for crews to extinguish due to considerable contents located in the garage, and the high possibility of the roof collapsing."
