A fresh warning has been issued to pet owners about the dangers of fishing equipment after a dog was left "fighting for its life" when it swallowed several fish hooks earlier this week.
The JSPCA has urged islanders to take their pet to the vet immediately if they suspect it has ingested a fish hook.
The reminder follows concerns raised on social media about the danger posed by discarded fish hooks to pets.
One islander took to social media yesterday to alert others that a dog is currently "fighting for its life" after swallowing several fish hooks near Seymour Slip on Monday.
Responding to the incident, the JSPCA called it "very distressing" for both the dog and its owner.
The animal shelter continued: “We would advise that if any owner thinks their dog has eaten a fish hook, or anything else that they shouldn’t have, then they should contact their vet as soon as possible.
“Please do not try to remove any hooks yourself.”
